EXTERNAL PARTNERS
The State educational centre for deaf and hard of hearing in Osnabruck is an institution of the state of Lower Saxony and is part of the state education centres for hearing impaired people. The Lower Saxony State Office for Social Affairs, Youth and Family is the technical supervisor and school authority.
In addition to services such as early hearing recognition, a counseling center and a psychological service, about 350 children, adolescents and young adults are cared for by more than 100 employees in a kindergarten, an elementary school, a secondary level I school and a vocational school with six training courses and the opportunity to learn 25 different professions. There is also the possibility of using the attached boarding school (70 beds).
The Centere providing support for all heard of hearing and deaf pupils on other schools in Lower Saxony (425 persons) through their mobile service. Consulting center support deaf and hard of hearing people and their families from the age of 4 month until 24 years old. The average amount of pupils in the class is about 5-7 persons.
The VET-center provide professional training programs for students in full-time and in dual (traditional German vocational education model). Young people with hearing disabilities can obtain here the state-recognized qualification of “caretaking assistant”. The training takes 2 years.
